Paragliders with foreign passengers falls into Fewa Lake, no one hurt

Oct 16 2017 | 01:32 pm

At least six paragliding pilots along with their foreign passengers fell off into Fewa Lake in Nepal’s tourism city Pokhara on Monday. However, all the foreign passengers and national pilots are reported to be safe.

The incident took place after the strong wind took control of the paragliders in the autumn sky of Pokhara.

“The gliders fell off in the lake due to the strong wind. However, all the pilots and passengers have been rescued safely,” an official at National Air Sports Association said.

Pokhara, located some 200 km away from the country’s capital, is a popular destination for adventure tourism.

It is also regarded as the top fifth commercial paragliding destination in the world with breath taking view of snow capped mountains, green hills and lakes.

Currently, around five dozen paragliding companies are in operation in Pokhara while its Sarangkot hill is regarded as the safest destination in South Asia for paragliding due to favorable weather.
