All hotels in Sundhara safe

May 31 2015 | 06:59 pm

KATHMANDU: Despite the massive loss of lives and physical properties in some parts of the country by the ‘Gorkha Earthquake’ and aftershocks, all 200 hotels in Sundhara, the centre of the capital city, are safe and unaffected by the earthquake.
However, the number of clients in the hotels is nominal owing to repeated aftershocks, the Nepal Hotel Entrepreneurs Society, Bagdurbar, said.

“The business in the last one month came to a standstill. But, it has resumed for some days,” secretary of Society DB Rai said.

Sundhara has been a popular as well as an easy location for night-stay for the government officials, migrant workers, businesspersons, seminar attendees and representatives of I/NGOs from outside the valley.

Despite the hoteliers in Sundhara have not witnessed any physical damages and other losses by the quakes, the Society said that the hoteliers have faced problems to pay the rent and provide salary to the employees due to very less number of guests. RSS
